The Sycamore House Story
The Sycamore House is the result of the gratitude of several alcoholics for the gift of recovery and their desire to help other men in recovery by providing housing and a structured living environment so they may learn to live happy, joyous and free lives.
In August 2007 the search for a proper building began and the house to be known as Sycamore House was found. This beautiful old 1917 house had been badly treated and was in need of major repairs. With the house came a wonderful side yard with an astounding Sycamore tree.
The soon to become Sycamore House was purchased in November, 2007 and renovation began immediately with an army of volunteers, all of whom were in recovery. In just a few months the unloved, tired old house began to blossom into a charming residence. Rooms were refurbished, walls and ceilings repaired, sections of the roof replaced, plumbing and electrical systems updated. The basement was transformed from a dingy old store room into a beautiful meeting/community room. Rooms and public areas were furnished by donations. In January, 2008 the Sycamore house became home to its first residents.
